Moot court is a very important part of our curriculum. Along with preparing students for moot court
competitions, we also have it as part of our syllabus in the 9 th and 10 th semesters. Our College is
equipped with a spacious Moot Court Room which serves as the courtroom for competitions, providing
the ambience needed to foster mooting culture and furnishing students with an environment conducive
to achieving excellence in the art of the argument.
It enables the students to
• enhance their advocacy, legal research and writing skills
• engage with current legal issues
• help them to learn teamwork
• to showcase their interest in advocacy in turn developing their confidence.
Article 39A of the Constitution of India ensures that the operation of legal systems should promote justice on the basis of equal opportunity and shall be given free legal aid. The aim of the Scheme is to provide an inexpensive local machinery for rendering legal services of basic nature like legal advice, drafting of petitions, notices, replies, applications and other documents of legal importance and also for resolving the disputes of the local people by making the parties to see reason, thereby preventing disputes from reaching courts. We at V.R. Krishnan Ezhuthachan Law College believes that law should be accessible to the society at large and so it becomes our responsibility to facilitate legal aid and awareness in whatever capacity possible. Here, the clinical legal education is enhanced through students' direct participation in providing legal advice to indigent people. We provide legal assistance to those who cannot afford legal assistance. We also conduct community outreach programs. We try to show students the actual problems faced by the society and how as a law student it becomes their social responsibility to guide the people in need of legal assistance. Furthermore, the clinic is meant to act as a platform for introducing students to the reality of the procedure.
